The Ibrahim benefit went really super. Everyone present was generating some really good

energy for his recovery.

Way to ride out and support our pal Ibrahim! Last I heard around 20K was

raised!

 

There were some really rad bikes around town that sunday. Tyler from Greensboro

brought out this bianchi special. Special indeed.

Federal funding for bicycling and walking is in jeopardy. We need you to send a short email today to your members of Congress.
Today, Congressman John Mica of Florida, Chairman of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, outlined his plans for the new transportation bill and called for the elimination of dedicated funding for biking and walking programs, which he suggested, “do not serve a federal purpose.”
In the Senate, James Inhofe of Oklahoma is leading a similar attack. Inhofe, a senior member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, said that one of his top-three priorities for the next multi-year federal transportation bill is to eliminate “frivolous spending for bike trails.”
If Representative Mica and Senator Inhofe get their way, dedicated funding for three crucial programs -- Safe Routes to School, Transportation Enhancements, and Recreational Trails -- will be eliminated. The cost-effective federal investment in bicycling that is making our nation better will shrink dramatically. We can’t allow this to happen.
That’s why we are asking you to reach out to the two U.S. Senators and the U.S. Representative who represent you in Congress. Ask them to support ongoing, dedicated funding for biking and walking in the next transportation bill. (You can find your representatives and send your note directly from our website. Summer skies in Winston, often captivating.


Rad Bike of the week was a very spontaneous encounter. Stumbling out the door I walk past this tough Fuji Royale. Tall.

The event for Ibrahim is coming up on July 10th. Be aware of the Helmet Drive and other donation possibilities. Tell your friends and family, i know there's tons of helmets in garages and closets long forgotten that would love a new head. And no worries, I was assured Mock Orange would be inspecting all donations for safety.

This morning we went the Maker Fair in Raleigh. Busy. Packed with inventive folks. Two notable sights:

HEADS UP Sunday July 10th! Critical Mass Ride preceding the Millenium Center jam for Ibrahim. We'll probably start somewhere around Thruway (Miller Park?). Tentative time of departure is 2 pm. Super crucial that we get as many people out riding (with your helmets on!!!!) as we can. Spread the word! Get someone on a bike. The more the merrier!

Open Season and first Rad Bike of the Week

Hi Friends,

We're in the throes of the riding season. It might be hot out, but i still see you all, crushing hills, hopping curbs, and casserollin' to the bar. With so many folks cruising Camel City wouldn't it be nice to stay up on all the goings on? Bikes are a wonderful and empowering machine. Let's share our experiences on them. One less car!
